IT Home, June 24th news, Trendforce, a market research firm, released a blog post today (June 24th) stating that due to the impact of Nanya Technology's suspension of DDR4 spot pricing last week, a price inversion unprecedented in the history of DRAM has occurred, with the price of DDR4 16Gb chips rising to twice that of DDR5.

Before publishing this article, IT Home queried the latest data from DRAMeXchange and found that the spot price of DDR4 16Gb (1Gx16) 3200 has increased by 4.35%, with the average price reaching $12.3. Meanwhile, the spot price of DDR5 (2Gx8) 4800/5600 is $6.053.

In addition to Nanya Technology ceasing to quote prices, major suppliers including SK Hynix and Micron are engaging in final negotiations with DDR4 customers for their final purchases, resulting in an increase in spot prices. Meanwhile, the agency predicts that contract prices will also rise in the third quarter.

According to TrendForce's forecast, the contract prices for PC DDR4 in the second quarter are expected to increase by 13-18% compared to the previous quarter, surpassing the previous expectation of a 3-8% increase. Meanwhile, the prices for server DDR4 are projected to rise by 18-23%.
